Yes it is, And don’t call me Shirley. ¬†(Yea, you saw it coming) ūüėČ ¬†Leslie Nielson

Late Sunday we received the sad news that Leslie Nielsen, star of stage screen and television had passed away from complications due to pneumonia.  A great actor that will be truly missed greatly.

Most people know Mr. Nielsen from his comedic work in films like the Airplane and The Naked Gun series’, but many do not know that he started off his career doing serious roles like The Poseidon Adventure and the sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet as well as many roles in various early television programs. ¬†You can view his extensive list of credits here.

I have enjoyed his work for many years and, as you can see from my logo, I am a sci-fi nut and Forbidden Planet is one of my all time favorites.  Mr. Nielsen played Commander J.J. Adams, a brash starship commander sent to investigate why a colony in deep space has suddenly gone quiet.  The robot in my logo is Robbie, the creation of the antagonist of the movie.

Leslie Nielsen was the type of person that was a genuinely loved by all that he worked with in the entertainment industry as well as around the world.  All the news feeds as well as the Twitter Feeds are flooded with the news of his passing.

To see a complete view of his life and career, please see his entry on Wikipedia.
